Guitar Review: The Guitar Magazine Reviews the Frank Brothers Signature Model

Oct 5, 2017 - Chris Vinnicombe, The Guitar Magazine

"Quirky vintage and modern boutique influences have coalesced into a new design that’s a potential world-beater...When the Signature Model is plugged into a Fender-style 6V6 circuit with just a touch of spring reverb it’s an almost ludicrously expressive combination. Held notes hang in the air and bloom in a manner you rarely encounter when playing a box-fresh electric. At times you’d even be forgiven for thinking that a high-quality, uncoloured compressor is present in the signal chain and it’s all made possible by Frank Brothers’ uncompromising approach to design, timbers, parts and build."

"A New Era For Guitar Shows: The La Conner Guitar Festival and the Vancouver International Guitar Festival"

July 2017 - Jason Verlinde, Fretboard Journal

"What makes a great guitar festival? I suppose it’s a bit like a good dinner party: You need a decent turnout (preferably with actual buyers), you need memorable servings (that would be guitars, in our case), a good, organized layout, but—just as important—there needs to be some positive energy in the air."

"Creativity Meets Sustainability at the Vancouver International Guitar Festival"

June 29, 2017 - Andy Perrin,

"It used to be that the question “Who played it?” was a key determinant in gauging the caliber of an item of guitar gear. These days, however, we’re fronting better, more incisive questions, like “Who built it?” and “Where did it come from?”

From June 23 to 25, guitarists had both questions answered at the first ever Vancouver International Guitar Festival. The event gathered a diverse group of sage and startup luthiers alike, whose handicraft told the vibrant story of Canadian guitar builders on the national and international stage."

The sheer fact that these guys got on a plane to hand deliver their guitars to the artist I think just shows the level of passion they have for their brand."

"Fretboard Journal's Bench Press: Frank Brothers Guitar Company"

March 13, 2017 - By Brian K. Saunders, Fretboard Journal

Since 2013 Jon, Nick and Tim Frank have building electric guitars as the Frank Brothers Guitar Company. We’d caught glimpses of their instruments here and there but didn’t get a real close look until our friends at The Music Emporium started carrying these original-but-classic-looking guitars. Now, as anyone who’s been paying attention can tell you, we love Telecasters and their variations both traditional and not-so-much, but our interest is always piqued by builders who can find a way to create something original that still feels classic–fresh but not jarring. The Frank Brothers guitar is right there in that sweet spot.

"Behind the Build: Frank Brothers Guitar Company"

October 14, 2016 - The Music Emporium

While taking in photos of stunningly beautiful guitars in various states of completion on the Frank Brothers website, we also learned of the Frank Brothers' rich musical heritage. Jim Frank, their father, was an award-winning recording engineer whose credits include work with Peter Gabriel and Alice Cooper. Their grandfather, Philip Frank, was a critically acclaimed, virtuosic violinist. At this point, our interest was piqued and we knew we needed to delve deeper. Who are these guys, and how do we get our hands on these guitars?
